Shawms 440 Hz

Shawm is a very loud instrument with a double reed. Sometimes it was built with so called pirouette, thanks to which the player did not have to put the reed directly in the mouth. In Europe we can find this instrument in many old icons, for example Cantigas de St. Maria. In the 16th century more noble types of shawm called pomortwas built. This instrument is still used in Europe to play folk music in France and Spain. The GT shawm sopran is made of alder or sycamore wood. It is dedicated for classical and folk musicians.
